Joint Effort for Sustainable Innovation ISC3 and Carbon13 Partner to Protect Climate and Environment

The International Sustainable Chemistry Collaborative Centre (ISC3) and venture builder Carbon13 are joining forces to provide more targeted support to startups and founders in the field of Sustainable Chemistry. The collaboration focuses on advancing innovations and early-stage companies that contribute to addressing pressing environmental and climate challenges.

Carbon13 and ISC3 share a mission to foster sustainable innovation that remains competitive over the long term. To achieve this, ISC3 is advancing a holistic sustainability strategy that embeds sustainable technologies, processes, and products across entire value chains, said Dr. Thomas Wanner, Managing Director of ISC3. As part of the strategic partnership, the two organizations will leverage synergies to identify high-potential startups in Sustainable Chemistry and support them jointly on their path to market readiness. By aligning our expertise, programs, and international networks at the intersection of science, technology, and entrepreneurship, we can accelerate the development of impactful solutions to global sustainability challenges, added Dr. Alexis Bazzanella, Director of the ISC3 Innovation Hub. Startups around the world stand to benefit significantly from this.

The partnership includes mutual support in promoting programs and events, as well as the joint development of new initiatives to advance sustainable innovation. It also aims to strengthen global networks of innovators, investors, mentors, and other partners at the global, regional, and local levels. Planned activities include joint events, workshops, and initiatives within the Innovation-Challenges, as well as the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and experience in startup support. Examples include a workshop on Sustainable Chemistry and the “Simplified Key Characteristics” for the Carbon13 cohort in June, as well as opportunities for startups in the ISC3 Global Start-up Service to participate in Carbon13 workshops on “Investor Readiness” or “Hiring/Team Culture” in September.

In ISC3, we have found the ideal partner to support our founders, thanks to its deep-rooted structures and extensive network within the world of sustainable chemistry. There is no shortage of innovative drive and entrepreneurial spirit. However, a strong ecosystem is needed to enable solutions to scale up and transform entire industries for the better. We will work closely together to make this happen, says Simon Dierks, Country Lead Germany.
